Biography
Shara Sun is a Chinese-Canadian pianist and teacher currently serving as an adjunct instructor at 蜜桃影像AV and Oklahoma Baptist University. She is an avid chamber musician and a passionate advocate for new music, and has presented at conferences such as MTNA.
Shara studied piano performance under Dmitry Rachmanov at California State University, Northridge, and piano pedagogy with E. L. Lancaster and Gayle Kowalchyk. She is currently ABD in the DMA program in piano performance and pedagogy at the University of Oklahoma, where she studies with Jeongwon Ham, Barbara Fast, Sara Ernst, and John Patrick Murphy.
While at OU, she held a Graduate Research Assistantship in opera and was the winner of the 2023 Concerto Competition. Her current research interests focus on Canadian pedagogical piano music.
